As a walking football club, CTWFC's approach to playing is simple; play to win - with a smile.

And if we lose - we don't lose the smile.

Calne Town Walking Football Club was established in 2020 to allow Club teams (Over 50s & Over 60s) to compete in the then newly established Wiltshire County Walking Football League, and local friendlies. 

Our more recently formed CTWFC 70s team won the 2022/23 Gloucestershire FA Over 70s Walking Football League in their inaugural season. We had also entered two teams in the 60s and one in the 50s - with less success! 

This year, 2024, CTWFC have a team competing in the Wiltshire County Walking Football 60s League and the 65s League, we're also playing in competitions and friendlies at home and abroad, throughout the year. 

Most importantly, most of our players play weekly at the mixed recreational session in Calne on Wednesday afternoons. This session runs (or should that be walks?) on a 'turn up & play' basis, although you will need to register, pay £4 per session and wear suitable footwear on the pitch.

A Little More About Us

Club registration is open to anyone over the age of 50, regardless of gender and ability. Women over 40 are welcome to join and play too, and the age requirement can be lowered in special circumstances.

Anyone who expresses an interest in playing competitive walking football for the Club is required to pay a membership fee. However, being selected for any team will be the decision of the Team Captain/Manager, but there are plenty of opportunities to compete throughout the year.

Players have to be above the age specification to play for that age group. i.e. No players below the age of 60 can play for an over 60s team, but someone over 60 can play for an Over 50s team. There are occasionally exceptions to this rule depending on the structure of the game or tournament. 

In short, players who just want a bit of football, fitness and fun at our recreational sessions do not have to become members, but they do have to register with the club, and players who want to play competitively have to do both.

Joining In

Here are some of the recreational sessions available for Calne and the surrounding areas. It's the same list and information that that's on The Game page.

These recreational sessions are mixed unless otherwise stated; open to players of any ability, women over 40 (35+ at some venues) and men over 50.

Before turning up to a session for the first time, it's advisable to contact the organiser or venue to make sure that the session is still taking place.

• Appropriate footwear is required at all sessions and does differ depending on venue and surface

• Most of the outdoor surfaces are artificial 3G, some are MUGA

• Only the Wednesday session at Calne is run by CTWFC

• Other sessions, not on this list, may be available
